A simple punch list for Utah's streets.

Better Streets Utah is a community-built tool that helps residents flag spots that need a touch-up after slurry seal work. Everything you submit becomes part of a shared punch list Morgan Pavement and Lehi City can use to schedule fixes.

Why this exists

After a joint walk-through with Morgan Pavement, Lehi City, and Cooper Brown, one thing was clear: calling public works or chasing down an email address is a lot of friction for a resident who just wants to point at a spot on their street that needs to be fixed after the slurry seal that just took place. This site is the simpler version — drop a pin, add a sentence, done.

Morgan Pavement plans to come back around and work through the punch list — but they can only fix the spots that get reported by the city or its citizens. If you want it addressed, please add it.

What to report (and what not to)

• Slurry more than 2" into the gutter. The concrete gutter is about 16" wide. The contract allows up to 2" of slurry overspread; anything past that is required to be cleaned up. A tape measure is the easiest way to check.
• Tall ridges or lumps that haven't smoothed out — the crew can heat and compact them.
• Hand-slurried square patches that got skipped because a car was parked there.

Not on the fix list: large loose rocks (snowplows will kick those out), spots where the new slurry peeled off onto a tire showing the old surface underneath, and general roughness that's still compacting. Street sweepers also pass through within 90 days of the slurry seal, so loose aggregate on the surface is already on the schedule.

How to use it well

• Drop the pin as close to the spot as you can.
• Submit one ticket per area — don't bundle multiple spots into one report.
• A photo of the road helps but isn't required.
• Describe what you're seeing, not who you blame.
