Mission
Streets are shared. So is what happens to them.
Better Streets Utah is a community documentation project focused on street resurfacing and slurry seal work — particularly work by Morgan Pavement — starting in Lehi and opening up to any Utah city where residents want to add to the record.
Why this exists
A slurry seal is a preservation treatment, not a resurfacing. When done well, it seals small cracks in the road and cures smooth. When done poorly, it leaves loose gravel for weeks, ridges and uneven surfaces, and slurry tracked into driveways and gutters. That isn't a matter of taste — it's a matter of safety for families walking, biking, and scootering through their own neighborhoods.
One frustrated post gets lost. A hundred careful reports, on a map, with photos, is harder to overlook. That's the whole idea.
What this project is not
- Not a place for personal attacks on individuals.
- Not a political campaign.
- Not a substitute for calling your city's public works line.
- Not affiliated with any city government or contractor.
How to use it well
- Post clear photos of the road, not people or license plates.
- Describe what you're seeing, not what you assume.
- Skip your exact home address — the street name is enough.
- If a city or contractor responds, credit them for it — this only works if it's a two-way conversation.
